Finding out about a medical problem during pregnancy can be scary and overwhelming. At Seattle Children’s, our Fetal Care and Treatment Center team is here to care for you and your developing baby every step of the way. Our experts will help diagnose your baby’s condition, explain your care options, provide treatment, and collaboratively work with your obstetrician to help support you during every visit and procedure. We provide a variety of services that are designed to help give you a complete understanding of your baby’s diagnosis and care so you can make informed choices that are right for your family.
From the very beginning, before your baby is even born, we take a multidisciplinary approach. You'll meet the entire team all at once, including your nurse navigator, maternal-fetal medicine specialist, surgeon, cardiologist, social worker and others, so you can get all your questions answered about every phase of the process. This team will follow you all the way through, working together to give your child and family the best outcome they can. — Dr. Bhawna Arya, director, Fetal Cardiology

Most visits take place at the Springbrook Professional Center, a block from our main Seattle hospital campus, but we also offer a variety of services in Alaska, Montana, and even consultations in virtual formats. Your care team will explain where your care will take place and why.

“My husband and I were completely lost and overwhelmed,” said Fannin. “Dr. Riehle helped ease our troubled minds during a really uncertain time. My feelings of bitterness and sorrow slowly started to melt away as I came to terms with the diagnosis and the realization that we were no different than anyone else getting a life-changing diagnosis, and I just focused on my excitement to meet [Summer].
Dr. Riehle was one of the first people to make me feel like a mom. She made me feel confident in my instincts, strong in my convictions, and reminded me that this is my child and I could absolutely handle anything for Summer.”
