Seattle Children’s Heart Center is able to treat all heart problems – from the mild to the most complex. We treat your whole child, not just their medical symptoms. Members of your child’s care team have special training not only in their field, but also in the unique needs of children and adolescents.
We provide the full range of general and highly specialized cardiology services – both for heart problems that develop before birth (congenital) and for problems that may happen later in life (acquired):

Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program
People born with heart defects need lifelong care from diagnosis through adulthood. Blood Conservation Program
Our Blood Conservation Program offers unique options for families who prefer that their child not receive blood products or a blood transfusion. Cardiac Catheterization Procedures
Instead of requiring surgery, many conditions are treated in our state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratories. Seattle Children’s cardiologists are leaders in providing safe and effective diagnostic and interventional catheterization and electrophysiology procedures for newborns, children and adolescents. Cardiac Genetics Program
We diagnose and manage genetic conditions that may cause the wall of the aorta to bulge outward (thoracic aortic aneurysm) or layers of the aorta to tear and pull apart (aortic dissection). Read more.

Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)

Cardiac MRI Program
Cardiac MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is a noninvasive test that uses radio waves, magnets and a computer to create moving and still pictures of the heart and major blood vessels. Learn more.

Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Clinic
The Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Clinic provides comprehensive screening and intervention for developmental delays associated with congenital heart disease. Learn more.

Echocardiography Imaging
Echocardiograms are ultrasounds of the heart, a simple and pain-free way to look at a child’s heart before and after birth. We do more than 1,000 “echos” every month. In addition to routine pediatric echocardiograms, we provide a number of specialized services. Read more.

Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS)
When your child’s heart or lungs are not able to work on their own or with medicines or mechanical ventilation, ECLS can provide support long enough for them to heal and take over again. Seattle Children’s has the largest ECLS program for babies, children and teens in the Northwest. We provide all types of ECLS, including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, ventricular assist devices and total artificial heart. Read more.

Fetal Care and Treatment Center
Seattle Children’s Fetal Care and Treatment Center diagnoses many types of heart defects before birth. The team includes cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, a genetic counselor and other specialists to care for you when you are pregnant if your developing baby has a known or suspected problem. Kawasaki Disease Clinic

Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia

Single Ventricle Program
We have the medical and surgical expertise to handle even the most complex types of single-ventricle defects, from prenatal diagnosis through treatment and lifelong follow-up care. Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs)
A VAD is a mechanical pump a surgeon implants inside or outside your child’s chest and connects to the heart during open-heart surgery. It can be used for patients waiting for a heart transplant or for patients whose heart muscle needs to rest. Our VAD program is part of a comprehensive approach to caring for children and adolescents with complex congenital heart disease. Read more.
