Orthopedics and Sports Medicine

Conditions We Treat

As a medical center serving families throughout the nation, Seattle Children's sees a wide variety of conditions that affect the growing muscles, joints and bones of children and teenagers. These are called orthopedic conditions.

The doctors, nurses and staff of our Department of Orthopedics specialize in the needs of young people whose musculoskeletal systems are still developing. We also provide prenatal evaluations for abnormalities that are present at birth (congenital), and that are passed down from parents to children (genetic).

Our patients see us for treatment of immediate problems, such as the more than 1,000 children who come to us each year with broken bones or sports injuries. We also care for young people with ongoing conditions that are present at birth or develop over time, such as bone tumors, scoliosis, foot conditions and dwarfism.
