"Caring for children and their families is my passion. I want the children to have a good experience with health care and the families to gain perspective and understanding in regards to caring for their children. I enjoy teaching of children, parents, medical students, nursing students, advanced practice providers (NP's and PA's) as well as medical residents. The Infusion Clinic can be a challenging place for parents and children as the child can be fine one minute and having anaphylaxis (allergic reaction) the next. Their child may have an uncertain prognosis or experiencing problem with the medication infusion. Keeping the family updated as to the plan of care in the midst of chaos is challenging, yet very gratifying to let them know all is under control and we are taking very good care of their child. Empowering children and parents/caregivers in regards to caring for their child--be it a regular cold or an allergic reaction--is very gratifying. "
  • Biography

I always knew I wanted to be a nurse, and always knew I wanted to work with children. I have been at Seattle Children's Hospital since 1980; working initially in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, subsequently becoming one of the first Pediatric Flight Nurses for Airlift NW. I loved the autonomy of flight nursing, so went back to school to first obtain a Master's Degree in Critical Care Nursing, then returning to obtain my Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certificate.

I enjoy working at Seattle Children's Hospital, but I also enjoy hiking, backpacking, Master's Ski Racing, gardening and mountain climbing. I have made the summit of Kilimanjaro, Mt Elbrus, Lobuche (Nepal), Everest Base Camp, and Mt Rainier 3 times.
