How to Install
Requirements
- Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7
- .NET framework 3.5
Installation
The single MSI file that you download self-extracts the files necessary for operating the atlas. The program should run on any PC-based computer with version 3.5 of the.NET framework installed. Computers running Windows 7 as the operating system already have this program installed. Instructions for installing this version of.NET framework are given below, in the section entitled "How to install.NET framework." The program does not work on the Macintosh platform at this time.
After downloading the file, you will be prompted to either run or save it. Choose to "Save" the MSI file to the desktop, to ensure that it installs correctly.
Once the MSI file is saved to your desktop, double-click on the new icon on your desktop. This will initiate an installation wizard. Continue clicking "Next" until the installation is complete. The installed program can then be found using the Start menu, in the Programs folder, under Pediatric Chest Atlas. By default, the necessary files and folders will be located in the following directory: C:\CHRMC\Pediatric Chest Atlas.
The folder entitled "Atlas" contains all the files necessary to run the atlas. Once the atlas is installed, there is a Word document to guide you through the use of the atlas located in the "Atlas_Help" folder.
How to install.NET framework
Prior to running the atlas, you need version 3.5 of the.NET framework installed on your PC. This can be downloaded from the Microsoft website.
Next, run that.exe file to install the.NET framework onto your hard drive. The Pediatric Chest Atlas may be installed after the.NET framework is installed.
Please note: There is a later version of the.NET framework in existence (version 4.0) which is independent of version 3.5. It is version 3.5 that must be installed for the Pediatric Chest Atlas to work. Both versions (3.5 and 4.0) can coexist on the same computer.
