Web-Based Training

What Do You Need To Do?

  1. If you have not yet done so, acquire your Seattle Children’s login information as instructed by your training coordinator.
  2. Complete all of the required Web-Based Training (WBT) modules.
  3. Complete Epic Training.

Accessing the WBT Courses

  1. Follow the instructions on the Remote Access Help page to register your Okta Verify app.
    • Your account is pre-expired and will prompt you to change the password. Your new password must be a minimum of 10 characters in length and contain at least one uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number and a special character (!@#$?).
    • Remember this password, as it will be used across all computer systems at Seattle Children’s.
    • If you encounter technical issues, please call our Service Desk at 206-987-1111. You will need two of the following when you call:
      • Your Seattle Children’s username
      • Your Seattle Children’s badge number
      • Your Okta username
      • Your manager’s name according to Seattle Children’s Human Resources Department:
        • Residents and Fellows: Chris Pendergrass, GME Associate Director
        • Medical Students: Sara Fear, Medical Student and WWAMI Program Manager
  2. Log into Okta, which will utilize the Okta Verify app you have registered.
  3. Once you have successfully logged in, find and click Grow@SC. This will open a new browser window.
    • If you do not see Grow@SC, you can launch Citrix Remote Access instead.
    • Once Citrix Receiver opens, you can find Grow@SC by clicking APPS at the top of the screen and either searching (upper right) or scrolling down to find the icon.
  4. In Grow@SC, find Your Training To-Dos and click Access Your Training (the title of the section is the link) to see the full list of modules and tests that you need to complete.
    • Important Notes:
      • Depending on your role, you may have more courses listed than what the GME Office requires for onboarding (WBT Courses listed below) and what is required for Epic access (number 5 below). Follow any instructions provided by your rotation coordinator regarding additional training.
      • If your list of modules is blank, please contact your GME training coordinator.
      • Be sure to complete the post-test for each of your assigned modules. Click the Summary button and then the Submit Final Answers button to ensure that you receive credit for completing each course.
  5.  Once you have completed your online learning, go here for Epic Training information.

WBT Courses

  • Required for all trainees
    Bloodborne Pathogens [Initial] Initial requirement for all users at risk of exposure as tracked by Workforce and Environmental Health & Safety (WEHS)
    Child Abuse and Neglect Training for Non-Nursing [New Hire and Annual] Required training to help non-nursing staff at Seattle Children’s meet the state of Washington requirement for mandated reporters
    Cybersecurity at Seattle Children’s To strengthen Seattle Children’s security posture and educate about cyberthreats to ensure that all of our workforce members and IT programs/hardware are safe
    Hospital/Foundation Hazardous Materials Core Requirement [One-Time] Required hazardous materials orientation for everyone in Seattle Children’s Hospital and Foundation, including non-employees
    Introduction to Error Prevention Concentrated review of the safety culture and error prevention tools implemented at Seattle Children’s
    Prevention of Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAIs) – Clinical [New Hire and Annual] Required infection prevention training for clinical employees and nonemployees
    Respiratory Protection Training for Trainees Covers information about tight-fitting (N95) and loose-fitting (CAPR) respirators used for protection against infectious airborne aerosols; completion of this module is required for compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Required for all residents and fellows
    Restraint and Seclusion Overview of the standards and practice expectations related to violent and nonviolent restraint and seclusion use at Seattle Children’s
    Soiled Instrument Handling – Red Bin WBT (GME Providers) Addresses safe handling of nondisposable instruments (defined as instruments sent to sterile processing for cleaning)
