Room service for families and visitors
Family members and visitors of patients who are admitted to the hospital can purchase meals for delivery to their child’s room or unit. Room service is also available for families and visitors of patients at the hospital for dialysis or infusion. Order every day from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. From inside the hospital, dial 7-MENU.
We accept all major credit cards, applicable vouchers and room service gift cards. You can buy gift cards at the Ocean Gift Shop or Forest Kitchen Express window (Level L1, Forest zone). Cash is accepted at the Forest Kitchen Express pick-up window.
Ocean Cafeteria (Level 7, Ocean Zone)
Accepts cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and cafeteria gift cards. You can buy them from the cafeteria cashiers.

Arranging your stay
Arrange for lodging as soon as you find out that you're coming to Seattle Children’s. Some accommodations and financial assistance can take several weeks to arrange.
Bedside
Most patient rooms have a sleeper chair or couch where one parent or guardian can sleep at night. Staying bedside depends on the patient's condition, available space and safety. Ask your nurse about the rules for your child’s unit.
Siblings under 1 year old are permitted to spend the night along with caregivers. All other siblings may not stay overnight. See the Visiting section below to learn more.
RV/trailer parking
We offer a few RV/trailer parking spots with electrical and water hookups for patient families. These spots are by reservation only and available for parents and caregivers of current patients who meet the eligibility requirements.

Ronald McDonald House
Ronald McDonald House (RMHC) provides lodging for qualified families of patients at Seattle Children’s. RMHC is one block from Seattle Children’s. They provide onsite parking and easy access to the hospital.
Shuttle service is available between Children’s and RMHC. Please call at least 45 minutes before you need a ride.

Photo name badges
Everyone ages 12 and older will get a photo name badge when they enter the hospital. Families and visitors must wear their photo name badge at all times.
Parents, guardians or caregivers
Parents, guardians or caregivers are not considered visitors and may be with their child (see above). If your child is admitted to a shared (double) room, 2 parents or adult caregivers can stay overnight.
Staying overnight
Staying at your child’s bedside depends on their condition, available space and safety. Ask your child’s nurse. Two parents or adult caregivers may spend the night. Siblings under 1 year old can spend the night in most circumstances except:
When you must be away
If you cannot be at the hospital, talk with your child’s nurse. The unit coordinator can help you choose 4 adults who can be with your child while you are away.
Number of visitors including siblings, family, and friends
Up to 4 parents, guardians, adult caregivers, and siblings are allowed. Siblings under 1 year old are also allowed, except if the patient is COVID positive or has another infectious disease that could put the baby at risk. Anyone who is sick or who has been exposed to COVID-19 or another illness of public health concern is not allowed in any part of the hospital.
Flowers, balloons and gifts
Gift deliveries from outside vendors are delivered to the hospital entrance desks and the delivery is logged. For questions about a delivery, call the entrance desk’s main line at 206-987-3360. For health reasons, some units restrict what patients can receive:

Showers, laundry, toiletries, basic needs
Take care of your basic needs at the Family Resource Center. There are private showers with towels, toiletries, laundry, lockers and more. To learn about more services at the FRC like health information, massage, free coffee and tea, computers and more, visit the FRC page.
ATM (cash machine)
Cash machines are available between the Ocean Cafeteria and the Ocean 7 entrance desk and by the vending machines on River 3. There is no fee to use the ATM, though your own bank may charge one.

Nursing-mother rooms
Most units have special rooms with breast pumps. For questions about pumping breast milk or breast-feeding, talk with your child’s nurse or ask to speak with a lactation consultant.
Seattle Children’s isn't like home, but, as much as possible, we want our patients to participate in familiar play and teen activities.
If your child is staying in the hospital, ask your nurse about therapeutic play programs or visit Child Life.

Inpatient Playroom (level 4, Mountain zone)
The Inpatient Playroom is for patients staying in the hospital, and their siblings. It has toys, books, movies, crafts and games you can take to your child’s room. It also has an outdoor play area and special activities in the playroom. When available, volunteers can come to your child’s room to read or to play with them during playroom hours. Entertainment passes
Inpatients and their families may request passes to the aquarium, zoo, sporting events and movie theaters. When passes are available, they are given out on a first-come, first-served basis in the Family Resource Center, level 7, River zone.

Courtesy phones are near entrance desks and in the Family Resource Center (level 7, River zone) for local phone calls.
Calling from outside Children’s
If you are calling your child or another patient's room from outside Children’s, call 206-987-2000 and ask for the patient by name, not by room number. Calls are transferred from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Phone cards
Phone cards are sold in the gift shop (level 7, Ocean zone).
Cell phones
Cell phones and related devices should not be used within 3 feet of any operating medical devices like cardiac monitors, ventilators or IV pumps or EEG equipment. Check with your nurse if you have questions. Reception is poor in many places. Try lobby areas and outdoor patios.
Free, high-speed wireless access (Wi-Fi)
Wi-Fi access is in all inpatient rooms, family lounges, Ocean Cafeteria (level 7, Ocean zone) and the Family Resource Center (level 7, River zone). You do not need a password. For questions, call the Family Internet Helpline at 7-5711.
Computers
There is free, 24-hour access to computers with Internet, Microsoft Office, health information resources and printers in the Family Resource Center (level 7, River zone). There also are computers in most family lounges on the units.

Interpreter Services
We provide free interpreting for languages other than English, Deaf and hard-of-hearing patients and families.
To reach a department, clinic or medical provider, call the interpreting line at 866-583-1527 (toll-free) and give the name of the person or extension you need.
When making an appointment, ask your scheduler for an interpreter.
During an inpatient stay, ask your nurse.
Disabled parking

Wheelchairs
We provide wheelchairs, carts, wagons and strollers for patients and families to use while in the hospital. Ask at any entrance desk.

Family restrooms and large changing tables
There are two family restrooms to meet the needs of families with children too large (over 30 pounds) to diaper or change using the baby changing stations located in the public restrooms. Each room has a toilet, sink and large platform.

Service animals
Service animals are welcome at Seattle Children’s Hospital and all clinics. Service animals are not pets, companion animals or therapy dogs. We apply the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, which define a service animal as “one that is trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a person with a disability.” These animals do not need special permission to come to Seattle Children’s.
Bike parking
Bike parking is available at River Circle near the River entrance, at the Ocean 7 staff entrance off of Penny Drive and near the Ocean 8 entrance.
