Seattle Children’s announces Andrew Lee as Vice President and Chief Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Officer to lead system-wide anti-racism and organizational change efforts

Today, following a national search, Seattle Children’s announced Andrew Lee will join the organization as Vice President and Chief Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Officer to lead system-wide diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, set strategic direction and accelerate anti-racism work.

In his role, Lee will provide vision, leadership and strategic direction to workplace EDI efforts throughout the organization. He will lead the implementation and evolution of an Anti-Racism Organizational Change and Accelerated Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Plan for Seattle Children’s. This work aims to foster an inclusive and equitable workplace culture that respects and leverages diversity to achieve high performance, engagement and innovation in alignment with Seattle Children’s mission to provide hope, care and cures to help every child live the healthiest and most fulfilling life possible.

Lee was previously the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for WellStar Health System, the largest health system in the state of Georgia with more than 25,000 employees. At WellStar he was responsible for the development and execution of a systemwide strategic diversity and inclusion approach. Lee implemented leading-edge and next-generation diversity and inclusion and community engagement strategies to progress the organization’s diversity management capability and regional presence as a diversity thought leader.

“We are thrilled to have Andrew join Seattle Children’s, and the breadth and depth of his experience is essential to provide vision, leadership, strategic direction and drive EDI and anti-racism efforts throughout the organization,” said Myra Gregorian, chief people officer of Seattle Children’s. “I look forward to partnering with Andrew to advance our anti-racism work for the diverse communities we serve and to help foster the inclusive work and care environment our workforce, patients and families deserve.”

Lee earned a doctorate degree in psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology and completed two master’s degree studies from University of Southern California Masters Health Administration and University of San Diego Masters Clinical Psychology.

“I’m honored and humbled to take on this new challenge, build inclusive partnerships and drive sustainable change to help Seattle Children’s become an anti-racist organization,” Lee said.
