Type-1 diabetes and lupus arise from genetics, and environmental exposures. We model the effect of genetic variants on immune cell development, signaling and response to environmental exposures like infection. The goal of these studies is to identify new treatments for autoimmune disease based on patient genetics.
Primary Immunodeficiency
Primary immunodeficiencies comprise a suite of rare genetic disorders that result in defects in a component of the immune system. We are focused on understanding the biochemical and cellular mechanisms by which genetic variants cause immunodeficiency in an effort to improve their diagnoses and treatment.
