Training Requirements
Individuals (who meet the definition of an investigator) must complete required Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) training before engaging in sponsored research. New investigators must complete this training as part of the onboarding process. For information about the onboarding process, contact Research HR.
Complete FCOI Training at Seattle Children’s
Seattle Children's Research Institute offers a self-directed online FCOI training course through the Learning Center, our online training center available to all workforce members with Seattle Children's network access. The course takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and is required at least once every four years. Both the course and its assessment must be completed in order to receive credit for the course. Documentation of completed training is available via the learner's home page in Learning Center or by contacting Learning and Organizational Effectiveness.
Complete FCOI Training at UW or Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center
Seattle Children's and the University of Washington (UW) accept each other's FCOI training. Seattle Children's also accepts FCOI training completed at Fred Hutch. If you recently completed FCOI training at either the UW or Fred Hutch, you do not need to complete Seattle Children's FCOI training. If this is the case, however, please:
- Read Seattle Children's revised FCOI policy (ORC-003) (PDF).
- Notify the Office of Research Compliance regarding which training you took (UW or Fred Hutch), and attest to having read and understood Seattle Children's FCOI policy.
